Temporary lower case

i like to have auto capitalization checked for obvious reasons. however, sometimes i dont want the 1st letter to be a capital letter. but i dont want to have to go in and uncheck it for one stinking letter all the time. is there a way to add a function to temporarily lower case a 1st letter?
even when i use custom auto text to for example, type my username which is v941726. it always capitalizes the v. in auto text i tried to change V9>v941726. the Cap V wont go away. it always comes out V941726. i know it doesnt matter with username's, but there are occasions i just dont want to auto cap that 1st letter. thanks
