Help

Get set up. Make it yours.

Straightforward answers for installing, switching, personalizing and troubleshooting Smart Keyboard Pro.

Install and enable the keyboard

  1. Install Smart Keyboard Pro from Google Play, then open it from your app list.
  2. Choose the setup option that opens Android’s on-screen keyboard settings and enable Smart Keyboard Pro.
  3. Tap a text field, open Android’s keyboard selector, and choose Smart Keyboard Pro.
Why does Android show a warning? Android displays a standard warning when you enable any downloaded keyboard because keyboards can receive typed input. Smart Keyboard Pro has no INTERNET permission, so it cannot send that input over the internet.

Common questions

Do I need separate dictionary apps?

No. Current versions bundle multilingual dictionaries. Enable the languages you need in Smart Keyboard Pro settings. Old dictionary add-ons are no longer required.

How do I switch Full, Compact and T9 modes?

Open Smart Keyboard Pro settings and choose your portrait keyboard mode. You can also assign a swipe gesture to a mode-related action for quicker access. Available behavior can depend on your current layout.

How do I open settings while typing?

Long-press the 123 key. Android versions and custom layouts may also provide a keyboard-settings shortcut through the system keyboard selector.

How do I create an AutoText shortcut?

Open Smart Keyboard Pro settings, find AutoText, add a short trigger and the longer replacement text, then save it. Use memorable triggers that you would not normally type as words.

How do I add a word?

Long-press a word in the suggestion strip to add it to your user dictionary. You can manage learned and user words from dictionary settings.

Where are emoji?

Long-press the Enter key to open the emoji panel. The recent-emoji tab keeps frequently used choices close by.

Why might the app request contacts access?

Contacts access is optional and is used only to offer names from your address book as suggestions. Leave it denied if you do not want this feature. The app does not upload contacts.

How does voice input work?

Voice input is optional. Smart Keyboard Pro launches Android’s installed speech-recognition service. Audio and transcription are handled under that service’s settings and privacy terms—often Google’s—not by Dexilog.

Can I back up my settings?

Use the backup and restore options in settings when moving devices or before resetting the app. Store exported backup files somewhere you control. Availability and file access can vary with Android version.

How do I change the keyboard skin?

Open Smart Keyboard Pro settings → General settings → Select skin, then choose one of the available skins. A skin creator is planned for a future update.
