smiley key??

clicious
Several people mentioned a smiley key in their comments but I can't find one. How do I display the smiley shortcut key? I tried all the skins (didn't really think it would make a difference) and disabled the language key (thought there might only be room for either). Neither worked. Help appreciated :)

Nexus One, android 2.1 not rooted (for now)

Hi
it appears automatically in place of the enter key when you are in a messaging app.
It doesn't appear when typing normal text for obvious reasons (you need the enter key to type multiline text)

i see it when using the nexus one messaging app, but not when using handcent :(

Hi
in Handcent you need to choose "smiley" in the "Action key type" option
